Why We Recommend This

At Bee Healthcare, we’ve fitted the Carbon Ultralight for more customers than any other rollator in our range. There’s a reason for that.

At 4.8kg, it’s the lightest rollator we’ve ever handled. For someone with Parkinson’s or MS, where grip strength and fatigue are daily challenges, that weight difference is not a luxury — it’s a clinical necessity. We’ve seen customers who couldn’t lift their previous rollator into the car boot manage the Ultralight with one hand.

The forward-facing handles are a standout design feature. Unlike traditional rollators where you push the handles away from your body, these draw the frame towards you, encouraging an upright posture. For Parkinson’s patients who tend towards a forward lean, this makes a meaningful difference to gait and balance.

We recommend the Carbon Ultralight for customers who are active or want to remain active, need a rollator for outdoor use on pavements and smooth surfaces, travel regularly, or simply refuse to use anything that looks like a medical device.

It’s not the right choice for very rough terrain — see the Carbon Overland for that — or for customers who need an indoor-specific model.

Also worth trying: the Rollz Air. It is the same carbon weight class at 4.7kg, but rated to a 175kg user and sized for heights up to 2.00m, with two balanced bags carrying 10kg and the narrowest fold we stock at 27.5cm. If you are tall, carry a real shop, or want the highest user rating in a lightweight frame, it is the one we would put beside this on the showroom floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Carbon Ultralight suitable for Parkinson’s disease?
Yes. The forward-facing handles promote upright posture, and the ultra-light weight (4.8kg) is manageable even with reduced grip strength. The smooth braking system works well for people with tremor. For Parkinson’s-specific features like laser cueing, consider the Rollz Motion Rhythm.
How does it compare with the Rollz Air?
They weigh within 0.1kg of each other, so the decision is rarely about weight. The Rollz Air takes a 175kg user, suits heights to 2.00m, carries 10kg across two balanced bags and folds to 27.5cm — choose it if you are tall, heavier, or carry shopping. The Carbon Ultralight’s forward-facing handles are the reason to choose it instead, particularly if you lean forward when you walk. We keep both in Sandyford so you can push them one after the other.
Will it fit in my car boot?
Yes. The Carbon Ultralight folds flat to just 25cm wide. We’ve tested it in everything from a Ford Fiesta to a Nissan Qashqai. Most customers fold and lift it into the boot with one hand.
What’s the difference between the Carbon Ultralight and the Carbon Overland?
The Ultralight (4.8kg) is designed for smooth surfaces — pavements, shopping centres, airports, and urban walking. The Overland (6.7kg) has pneumatic tyres and suspension for rough terrain like grass, gravel, and forest paths. If you mainly walk on footpaths, choose the Ultralight.
Is there a warranty on the carbon fibre frame?
Yes. byACRE gives a lifetime warranty on the Carbon Ultralight frame: it is warranted free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner. All you need to do is register your purchase with byACRE — the serial number is on a white sticker on the frame under the right rear wheel. Other rollator parts carry byACRE’s standard warranty terms, and normal wear and tear, improper use and damage from external forces are not covered.
Can I try it before I buy?
Absolutely. Try the Carbon Ultralight at our Sandyford showroom, or at home if you’d rather — book a 45-minute assessment at book.beehealthcare.ie/book.
Is VAT charged on this product?
No. As a medical device, rollators are zero-rated for VAT in Ireland. The price you see is the price you pay.
