Why we recommend it

There is a specific moment we watch for at fittings: the first lift. Someone picks the rollator up off the floor with one hand, and their face changes. The Superlight is the frame that produces that reaction most often. Saljol set out to build the lightest premium rollator they could without stripping out the things that make a rollator worth having, and at 4.4kg they have a serious claim to it.

Weight is not vanity. It decides whether the rollator goes into the car boot or stays in the hall, whether it comes upstairs or lives on one floor, whether a person with MS fatigue or reduced grip still uses it at four in the afternoon. Every other feature is negotiable; this one changes whether the thing gets used.

The cork-TPE handles are the second reason we stock it. Cork does not go cold in an Irish winter, does not get slippery in rain, and absorbs some of the shock that otherwise travels up into the wrists and shoulders.

Choose it if lifting is your limiting factor, or if painful hands make hard plastic and metal handles uncomfortable.

Common questions

What is the maximum user weight?

The standard Saljol Carbon is rated to 150kg. The Superlight is built lighter, so we check its current rating against Saljol's data sheet before recommending it rather than assuming the two match — ask us and we will confirm it for your situation.

How does it compare with the Saljol Carbon with drag brakes?

Same manufacturer and the same cork handles, but different jobs. The Superlight is 4.4kg and built around lightness. The drag brake model is 5.6kg and adds continuous rolling resistance for slopes and festination. If hills or a runaway rollator worry you, the extra 1.2kg is worth it.

Which size do I need?

Measure floor to wrist with your arms hanging loose — 76–88cm suits the 54, 81–103cm the 62. There is overlap; we measure at the fitting.

Is carbon strong enough at that weight?

Carbon fibre is stiffer than steel for its weight, which is why it is used for bicycle frames and prosthetics. The Superlight is light because of the material, not because material has been left out.
