Showering as if you were standing. Turning on the spot, sitting down.

For a lot of people the shower is the first thing that stops being straightforward. Wet surfaces, less steadiness, less strength in the legs — and a daily routine turns into something you brace yourself for. The Saljol swivel shower stool is built around one idea: that you should be able to turn, reach and wash sitting down, on your own, without anyone needing to be in the room.

It is also a good-looking piece of bathroom furniture, which matters more than people admit. Equipment that looks like equipment tends to end up unused.

A word from the fitting room: sit down slowly and sit back upright. A wall-mounted grab rail alongside makes sitting and standing safer still, and is worth fitting at the same time.

Turn to the tap without standing up

Five anti-slip castors let the stool rotate on its own footprint rather than rolling away. You can turn towards the tap, the shelf or your towel while seated — no twisting at the waist, no standing on a wet floor to reach something.

It works for whoever is helping, too. The 360° turn is smooth enough that someone can be turned to the right position without the person assisting having to climb into the shower.

Light enough to move, built to stay

At 2.8kg it lifts out of the shower with one hand, so the bathroom does not have to be given over to it permanently. The frame is rustproof aluminium and every material on it is chosen for a room that is wet every day.

It is not only for showering — it is a seat for drying hair, shaving, or anything else that is harder standing up.

Washing independently, for longer

The part people do not raise until they are in the room is intimate hygiene, which is often the first thing to become difficult and the last thing anyone wants help with. The seat has a hygiene cutout adjustable to three positions, and the two seat halves slide to set the width. The EPP seat reflects body heat, so it is not cold to sit on.

The point of all of it is the same: keeping the parts of washing you would rather do yourself, yours.

Buying from Bee Healthcare

  • Measure the tray first. 85 × 85cm is the minimum — it is the one thing worth checking before you order. Send us the measurement and we will confirm it.
  • Try it before you buy. Book an appointment at our Sandyford showroom, or at home if you'd rather.
  • HSE-approved supplier. We issue quotes in the format a funding application needs — shower seating is often specified after a falls or OT assessment.

Common questions

Will it fit in my shower?

It suits shower trays of 85 × 85cm or larger, which covers a standard tray. Measure yours before ordering if you are close to that.

Can the seat height be adjusted?

Not on its own — the stool has a fixed 50cm seat. The adapter set (€79) raises it by 4cm or 8cm, or tilts it 13° into a wedge position that makes standing up easier.

Why is the seat split in two?

So the width can be set to you, and so the gap can be used for intimate hygiene while seated. The EPP material reflects body heat, so it is not cold to sit down on.

Will it mark the shower tray or floor?

No. The castors are faced with a soft, non-slip rubber chosen not to damage a tray or a bathroom floor.

How do I turn it?

The five castors are arranged so the stool rotates on the spot rather than travelling. You can start the turn with your feet, with the handles, with your own body, or whoever is helping can turn you.
