The Rhythm cueing rollator, fitted with the reverse brake — for hands that can no longer hold a brake closed.

Why we recommend it

A standard rollator brake asks you to squeeze to stop. That is fine until grip strength or dystonia makes holding a lever difficult, or until a hand freezes at the wrong moment. The reverse brake inverts it: the rollator is braked by default, and squeezing the handles is what lets it roll. Let go — or lose your grip — and it stops where it stands.

On a frame built for Parkinson's, that pairing is deliberate. The Rhythm gives the brain external cues to walk to; the reverse brake means the frame cannot run away during a festinating episode, and cannot roll forward while you are lowering yourself onto the seat.

Choose it if you or your physiotherapist have concerns about grip during a freeze, or if a previous rollator has rolled away while you were getting seated.

Choose something else if your grip is reliable — the standard Rollz Motion Rhythm at €1,495 has the same cueing with conventional brakes, which suit most people better. If you also need to be pushed on longer days, the Rhythm Wheelchair adds the wheelchair package. The reverse brake takes practice, and it is not a change to make without trying it.

What's included

The Rhythm rollator with the cueing module and seat bag, with the reverse brake fitted before delivery. It arrives set to your height with the cues configured, and we run through both with you.

The wheelchair package (€299) can be added later on the same frame, as can the electric conversion kit.

About the Rollz Motion Rhythm

Rollz is a Dutch manufacturer, and the Rhythm is its Parkinson's-specific model: the Motion frame with a cueing module added. The laser line projects a stripe on the floor to step over, the metronome gives a beat to walk to, and the handles vibrate in time. Cues can be used singly or together, and varied to prevent habituation.

Buying from Bee Healthcare

  • Try it before you buy. A 45-minute assessment at our Sandyford showroom, or at home if you'd rather — book an appointment. The reverse brake in particular needs to be felt to be understood.
  • Delivered set up, not boxed. Height, brakes and cue settings configured with you.
  • HSE-approved supplier. We issue quotes in the format a funding application needs.

Common questions

How is the reverse brake different from a normal brake?

A normal brake is off until you squeeze it. The reverse brake is on until you squeeze it. The rollator stands still by default and only rolls while you are actively holding the handles, so releasing your grip — deliberately or not — brings it to a stop.

Is it tiring to hold?

It takes a light, continuous squeeze rather than a hard grip, but it is a different habit from a lifetime of ordinary brakes. We would not fit one without you trying it first, ideally with your physiotherapist's input.

Do the cues need charging?

The module runs on a rechargeable battery, typically several days of normal use. If it runs flat the rollator still works normally — you simply lose the cues until it is charged.

Can I set the cues myself?

Yes, on the handlebars or through the free Rollz app for iOS and Android. We set them up at the fitting and your physiotherapist can adjust them to your gait.

Can I add the wheelchair option later?

Yes. The wheelchair package fits this same frame, so the rollator can become a transport chair when the day calls for it without replacing anything.
