The Rhythm Wheelchair with the reverse brake — the frame stops the moment your grip does.

What this version adds

Everything on the Rollz Motion Rhythm Wheelchair (€1,794), with the reverse brake fitted (€199) — €1,994 in total, delivered set up.

An ordinary brake is off until you squeeze it. The reverse brake is on until you squeeze it: the rollator stands braked, and releasing the handles — deliberately or not — brings it to a halt.

Why we recommend it

This combination is for a specific problem, and it is worth being clear about it. Cueing addresses the freeze; the reverse brake addresses what happens when a hand fails. If grip strength is unreliable, if dystonia locks a hand at the wrong moment, or if a previous rollator has rolled away while you were lowering yourself onto the seat, this is the configuration that answers it.

It also changes a habit built over a lifetime, which is why we would not sell one without you trying it. Some people take to it in minutes; others find the constant light squeeze tiring and are better served by conventional brakes.

Choose the standard version instead if your grip is dependable — the Rhythm Wheelchair at €1,794 is otherwise identical. If you don't need the wheelchair package, the Rhythm with reverse brake is €1,694.

The rollator itself

Green laser line, metronome and handle vibration, each adjustable on the module or in the free Rollz app; converts to an attendant-pushed wheelchair with the included package; 11.6kg plus 3.4kg for the wheelchair package; maximum user weight 125kg; suits users 1.60–1.90m; folds to 31cm wide. Warranty is 24 months on the product, five years on the frame. Full detail on the main Rhythm Wheelchair page.

  • HSE-approved supplier. We issue quotes in the format a funding application needs.

Common questions

Is the reverse brake safer?

For the right person, yes: the failure mode is the rollator stopping rather than rolling. For someone with a reliable grip it mainly adds effort. It is a clinical decision, not an upgrade — we would rather you tried both.

Can it be fitted to a Rhythm I already own?

Yes. The reverse brake can be fitted to an existing Rollz Motion or Rhythm frame. Talk to us about fitting it.

Does the wheelchair mode work the same way?

Yes — the seat turns round, the footrests clip on, and someone pushes you. There are no hand rims, so it is attendant-pushed rather than self-propelled.
