The same turn, with a back to lean on and a brake that works by itself.

If standing in the shower has become tiring, or if it is sitting down and getting back up that worries you, this is the version of the swivel seat with support built around it. A backrest, armrests to push up from, and a brake that engages the moment you put weight on those armrests — so the seat cannot move at the exact moment you need it not to.

A word from the fitting room: sit down slowly and sit back upright. A wall-mounted grab rail alongside adds security when sitting and standing, and is worth fitting at the same time.

Support where the weight goes

The backrest is ergonomic and adjustable, and it does more than add comfort — it keeps you upright rather than hunched while you wash. The armrests are what you push up from, and leaning on them brakes the swivel automatically. You get freedom of movement while you are washing and a fixed seat the instant you move to stand.

Turn to the tap without standing up

Five anti-slip castors rotate the chair on its own footprint. Turn towards the tap or your toiletries without rising or twisting — and in a small shower, without catching anything on the way round.

Easier for whoever is helping

The controlled 360° turn means someone can be moved into position for each part of washing without the person assisting having to get into the shower themselves. That makes the job less awkward for both people, which is usually the thing that decides whether it keeps being manageable at home.

Washing independently, for longer

The hygiene cutout adjusts to three positions, so intimate hygiene can be managed while seated — the part of washing people most want to keep doing themselves. The seat, backrest and armrests all reflect body heat, so nothing is cold to sit against.

Built for a wet room

Rustproof aluminium throughout, specified for daily use in damp conditions. At 5.5kg it is still light enough to move when the bathroom is needed for something else.

Specification

  • Seat height: 50cm (fixed — see the adapter set below to raise or tilt it)
  • Weight: 5.5kg
  • Support: adjustable ergonomic backrest and armrests
  • Brake: automatic — engages as soon as weight goes on the armrests
  • Frame: rustproof aluminium, for continuous use in wet rooms
  • Seat: heat-reflecting, with a three-position hygiene cutout
  • Castors: five, soft non-slip rubber — rotates on the spot, does not roll
  • Minimum shower tray: 85 × 85cm

Choosing between the chair and the stool

The shower stool (€279) does the same swivel in 2.8kg with no back or arms. Choose the stool if your balance seated is good and you mainly want to stop standing; choose this chair if you want something to lean back against, something to push up from, or if a brake that engages on its own would settle a worry about the seat moving.

Buying from Bee Healthcare

  • Measure the tray first. 85 × 85cm is the minimum — send us the measurement and we will confirm it fits before you order.
  • Try it before you buy. Book an appointment at our Sandyford showroom, or at home if you'd rather — for shower seating, seeing it in your own bathroom tells you more.
  • HSE-approved supplier. We issue quotes in the format a funding application needs — shower seating is often specified after a falls or OT assessment.

Common questions

Will it fit in my shower?

It suits shower trays of 85 × 85cm or larger, which covers a standard tray. Measure yours before ordering if you are close to that.

Can the seat height be adjusted?

Not on its own — the chair has a fixed 50cm seat. The adapter set (€79) raises it by 4cm or 8cm, or tilts it 13° into a wedge position that makes standing up easier.

How does the brake work?

It is automatic. As soon as you lean on the armrests the swivel locks, so the chair cannot turn while you are getting up. Take the weight off and it turns freely again.

Why is the seat split in two?

So the width can be set to you, and so the gap can be used for intimate hygiene while seated. The EPP material reflects body heat, so it is not cold to sit down on.

Will it mark the shower tray or floor?

No. The castors are faced with a soft, non-slip rubber chosen not to damage a tray or a bathroom floor.

How do I turn it?

The five castors are arranged so the chair rotates on the spot rather than travelling. You can start the turn with your feet, with the handles, with your own body, or whoever is helping can turn you.
